Episode 20 – About Motivation and Goal Setting

medicated_motivatedIf you’re like me, well, sorry about your luck! But seriously, if you’re like me, motivation can be hard to sustain. Even for things that you know are good for you! A big part of staying motivated is goal setting.

Sometimes the idea of preparing for the little and big disasters or getting to the point where you can enjoy a self-sustaining lifestyle can be very daunting! Well, today I talk about breaking it down to bite-sized pieces and staying positively motivated.

Episode 8 – About Self Actualization

This podcast finishes off Mazlow’s Hierarchy of Needs. The next podcast is a bit more meat and potatoes.

Hopefully the hierarchy has helped you identify the needs we all have beyond food storage and evacuation plans. The point to preparedness is to take care of life’s little, and big, emergencies so we can get on with the business of living life to the fullest. It’s more than surviving, it’s thriving!

Episode 5 – About Safety and Security

Continuing on with the whole Mazlow’s Hierarchy of Needs theme, I’ve moved us up to the second level. Here we try to meet the needs of safety – safety of home, body, family, morality and employment. Again, it’s a brief overview with just a few details. In the coming weeks, once we’ve made it through the hierarchy, we look at a few of these in greater detail.

So far, so good. I don’t think I mentioned this in the podcast like I wanted to, however I read that the hierarchy is used by advertising agencies to sell to our needs and insecurities. I’ll touch on that more tomorrow along with a ‘revelation’ I had about that.

Episode 3 – About Food

Due to fighting with yesterday’s podcast and getting it up on the blog, I didn’t have the time to do show notes for today’s notes. Nonetheless, I think it’s a pretty decent show – considering it’s just one big brainstorm. Well, there’s is the fact that the audio quality is bad. I tried to use Audacity to make it better, but this is as good as it gets. Must be something wrong with the headset.

Today I’m talking about the importance of:

It’s a lot of general terms, since each of these can be an episode in itself. Listen in for my special RANT on picky kids and parents that don’t buckle down and deal with that. It may save your child’s life.

Episode 2 – About Water

Edit: Show is available now! Yay!

Well folks, being new to this pod casting thing, I haven’t been able to quite dial in my notes to an appropriate length show. I did record one, but upon further review I came to the conclusion that, well, it sucked. I’m not posting it. I’ll redo it tomorrow and post it tomorrow night.

However, I do finally have a decent image of Mazlow’s Hierarchy of Needs. For your viewing pleasure…

In the meantime, how about going over to the Canadian Prepper’s Network and checking out some of my articles there as well as the other fantastic ones by the crew.

I’ve also just had an article published at MakeUseOf.com on The Top 5 Sites To Prepare You For An Emergency. CanadaPrepared.com isn’t there because a) conflict of interest and 2) it’s not that great yet.
