Episode 30 – G20 and G8 and Dealing with Explosive Events
Jul 1, 2010 Family Preparedness

It’s really insanity that the dignitaries would set up an explosive event in a major centre. It’s also insanity that the protesters would take the bait. Here’s a few of my thoughts and a few ideas to help you avoid, or deal with, such a situation if you have to be near it.
Of course I’ve got some political and philosophical thoughts about this whole G20 and G8 thing, yet I don’t really go into it in this podcast. As time goes on, you’ll find me addressing these sorts of events and news items more regularly. Hope you enjoy, let’s talk in the forum!

Episode 3 – About Food
Sep 18, 2009 Preparedness and Mazlow
Due to fighting with yesterday’s podcast and getting it up on the blog, I didn’t have the time to do show notes for today’s notes. Nonetheless, I think it’s a pretty decent show – considering it’s just one big brainstorm. Well, there’s is the fact that the audio quality is bad. I tried to use Audacity to make it better, but this is as good as it gets. Must be something wrong with the headset.
Today I’m talking about the importance of:
- food in general
- macronutrients
- balance in nutrition
- food production and
- food storage
- dehydrate2store videos
It’s a lot of general terms, since each of these can be an episode in itself. Listen in for my special RANT on picky kids and parents that don’t buckle down and deal with that. It may save your child’s life.

Preparedness as a Retirement Plan
Sep 9, 2009 Philosophy
The concept of retirement is a relatively new one. Not so long ago, when we were a more agrarian based society, few people ever retired. Their daily duties just changed. As we grew older, we would take over running the farm, and then we would maybe step back and let our kids do that. Maybe we would take over maintenance of the equipment or something a little less physically demanding, but that required our experience. Maybe we would help out more inside the home. But flat-out retirement to travel south or play golf all day was the domain of the ultra rich. Even then, most tycoons were still wheeling and dealing well into their 60’s and beyond.
Nowadays with retirement plans tanking and pension funds bleeding out, we may find ourselves without the ability to retire once again. However, this time, we won’t have the farm to feed us and the multi-generational home to keep us occupied and close to our loved ones. If we’re very fortunate, we may be able to find a spot in a retirement home and sell our current homes to pay for it.
